Lynne Heather, 54, had a neardeath experience after daughter Angela, now 31, was born. Lynne lives in Bourne, Lincolnshire.

Many people are scared of death, but not me because I've died and been to the other side. Although it happened years ago, I can remember every detail as if it were yesterday.

I gave birth to my daughter Angela on January 22, 1976, at 3am after an 11-hour labour. Everything seemed fine, but shortly afterwards I blacked out.

Next, I found myself sitting up out of my body. I could hear and see everyone in the room as if I was awake. I saw a doctor banging on my chest trying to revive me.

I remember thinking: 'I want to leave my body now,' and quickly found myself in a greyish mist. It was a waiting area, and I knew I was midway between Earth and Heaven. A second later, I felt a presence behind me. I could also sense angels who gave off a happy energy. I wanted to go to Heaven but the divine being was holding my head down gently, stopping me from moving. The being was also giving off a feeling of utter love.

The being then said: 'Do you really know what you're doing?' In my mind, I saw my daughter's lonely life growing up without me. I even saw her first day at school without her mum as all the other kids were dropped off. I couldn't leave her.

The voice then said: 'It's your decision.' I replied: 'I'll go back.' I just couldn't abandon my baby. As I said these words I heard the sound of hundreds of tiny wings flapping and it was beautiful. I knew it was the angels clapping and I'd done the right thing.

Suddenly, I was back in the hospital room and my first words were: 'How's the baby?' I was so relieved to hear she was fine and I made a full recovery. Later, my husband Bill, now my ex, told me doctors had said I was dying.

A few days later, I tried to explain to Bill what had happened but he looked back as if I were mad.

I kept quiet about it after that but the experience changed me totally.

It gave me an inner peace, a calmness, that comes from a conviction that there really is a divine being looking after us.

I don't worry about silly things any more and I believe we're all here for a reason and that we keep coming back until we get it right. I came back from the dead for my daughter, who now works as a life coach helping people to follow their dreams.

When Angela was 12, I told her the story of her birth. Her response was to hug me and say: 'Thanks for coming back for me, Mum.' My heart melted. I knew already that I'd made the right choice but at that moment it was like being full of heavenly love all over again.
